Jimmy Skaffa rose out of Omaha, NE to become one of the Midwest's most acclaimed ska bands. Formed in 1992 by ex-members of local ska bands Knuckle Junction and Porkpie Conspiracy, Jimmy Skaffa slowly added members until it reached its current roster of ten players, highlighted by a great horn section and the fetching vocals of lead singer Robin Goodwin. The crew hit the ground running -- releasing a self-produced eight-song cassette, Nobody Tells a Navy Man He's Had Too Much to Drink, in 1993 and touring extensively, playing with bands like the Wailers, Black Uhuru, the Toasters, Let's Go Bowling and Murphy's Law. Another two recordings were served up by Omaha's Two Olive Martini Records, the 1996 7" Bitch on Sunday and their full-length debut, Cliché. The next step for the band was to go national, which they did by signing with ska/swing giants Slimstyle and releasing their second full-length album, Six Bullets Past Midnight, in 1999.
